Each entry carries a frequency (decisions per hour), a current cycle time, and a target cycle time. The Data Dependency Map then traces each decision back to its required inputs — source system, refresh cadence, quality SLA, and the named owner responsible for data availability. In practice, completing the Dependency Map kills roughly 30% of proposed features outright because the required data either does not exist, refreshes too slowly, or has no accountable owner.
Latency Contract, Escalation Protocol, and Rollback Conditions
The Latency Contract defines the maximum acceptable time between data ingestion and decision output for each entry in the Register. This single constraint drives architecture choices more than any other factor — it determines whether you need streaming inference or batch, whether you can afford a human-in-the-loop, and what infrastructure tier you are actually buying. The Escalation Protocol specifies the confidence thresholds at which the system defers to a human operator, including maximum queue depth and response-time SLAs for that human. If you cannot articulate your rollback in under two minutes, your system is not production-ready.
